Henry (Hank) Pohlmann's
P2V Neptune
Yeah, I know, this aircraft isn't part of the SIG collection. That's SIG's loss.
Henry (Hank) Pohlmann was one of several designers that worked with/for SIG in the early days. His work was something special, his designs were the epitome of design perfection. If they weren't, they never saw the light of day, as is evidenced by the never-released KBRC-7 kit of the AT-6 Texan which is shown on the "RC Kwik-Bilt" page.
This page reflects on another one of his famous designs, and its submission to the AMA Museum.
Maria VanVreede accepting Hank Pohlmann’s C/L scale model of the Lockheed P2V Neptune (built in 1959) into the Academy of Model Aeronautics National Model Aviation Museum. It is the oldest surviving example of Hank’s craftsmanship and a great honor for it to be donated on behalf of the Pohlmann family.
The plane will now reside there fulltime and become part of the museum’s permanent collection.
